Following the renovation of St. Nicholas' Church in Nore Road, it gives us great pleasure to announce the opening of the Lighthouse Café on 24th July 2014.  This is a joint venture between Portishead United Reformed Church and Portishead Church of England.  The Café will be open from 2.00-4.00pm every Thursday afternoon and will be offering delicious home made cakes, a place to meet up with friends old and new - and a listening ear to anyone who needs it.  It is hoped that this Café will become a community hub and information point which will be shaped by those who come through its doors. ALL ARE WELCOME SO PLEASE COME AND VISIT.  (Situated in Nore Road, next to Fedden Village).

It is with sadness that we announce the death of our minister Chris on Monday 3rd June, following a sudden and unexpected deterioration in health. Please pray for the family and both Portishead and Nailsea Churches as they come to terms with losing Chris in this way.

Thank you to everyone who came to share in the service of Thanksgiving which was held at Nailsea Methodist Church at 2pm on Monday 17th June. Donations in memory of Chris will be given to Karen Action Group, a registered charity working on the Thai/Burma border. Chris had visited the Karen several times in the past, particularly when they were under great persecution and there was a need to take aid. As you may know the situation in Burma is beginning to change for the better. The Karen Action Group is now hoping to return to its original ethos which is to provide training for Christian Ministry. Donations will be given specifically towards the building of a new Bible School. Donations to date have amounted to £1,500.00 -  thank you so much for your generosity.   It is still possible to make a donation directly to KAG online.

Final service at Cabstand
A short farewell service took place at which over 125 years of worship and witness was celebrated. It was a sad occasion but many happy memories were shared.
