Getting married at Portishead URC

If you are interested in a URC wedding at St. Nicholas Church please email info@portisheadurc.org.uk and we will be happy to arrange an initial meeting.

Where one or both parties has been married before and is now divorced, it may still be possible for the marriage to take place in our church.

Marriage preparation

As well as helping you prepare for the wedding day itself, we aim to help each couple prepare for married life together. In particular, we encourage couples preparing for marriage to take advantage of the courses run by the Bristol Community Family Trust. BCFT runs 'state of the art' relationship courses in Bristol every month for engaged and newlywed couples. Research has shown that such courses can enhance your relationship and help reduce your chances of divorce. And they're fun!

For more information on the BCFT courses, and for marriage and relationship tips, visit the BCFT website.

How much does a wedding cost?

The basic cost, including the fees for the minister and organist, is £300 (as at October 2012). This does not include flowers as most couples prefer to organise their own flowers.

The URC does not have a choir, but it may be possible to arrange for a choir to be present and to sing an anthem if you wish but there would be an additional charge for this.
